Family Support for Parents
Lansdowne family support program, offers services that provide families with opportunities that build on strengthening the family unit in a culturally diverse setting. Listed below are the services that we offer to families within the community.
Positive Parenting WorkshopsPositive parenting workshops assist families in their role as parents and provides them the tools they need to deal with various behaviors in a positive manner.
Workshops are provided throughout the year in the evenings between 5:30-8:00 pm. A light supper and child care are provided. Parent Information SessionsInformation and resources are provided to families who need extra help in their daily life. Information sessions are provided throughout the year on such topics as; financial matters, stress management, healthy eating as well as other topics of interest. The information sessions are between 5:30-8:00 pm.. A light supper and child care are provided.

Home-VisitsHome-visits are offered throughout the year. An educator visits the home and provides resources and information based on the needs of the family. For children enrolled in the centre, a portfolio of the child is provided to the family that showcases their milestones and how the "Learning through Play" program has enhanced their development through art, photos and documentation.

Parent and Child Quality TimeWould you like to spend more quality time with your child as well as meet other families? Opportunities are provided throughout the year for parents and their children to spend quality time together as they engage in an activity. The program is offered throughout the year between 5:30-8:00 pm. A light supper is provided.
Stay and PlayFamilies with young children (ages 13 months to 6 years) are welcome to join us in our playrooms socializing with other children while engaging in play. This drop in program provides many opportunities for you to be involved with your child participating in music, storytelling, art and active play. The Stay and Play program operates Monday to Friday from (9:00-11:00 am. and 3:00-5:00 pm.).
Developmental ScreeningWould you like to be involved in assessing your child's development? A trained coordinator will assist you in filling out a 15 minute screening tool that will offer you a quick look at how your child is developing. The family coordinator will assist in helping you develop a plan to support any areas of development that your child could benefit from.
