Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a waiting list and what is the procedure? The centre does have a waiting list according to the child's age that does fluctuate throughout the year. To place your child on the wait list, you can fill out the wait list form available on our contact us page. We recommend that you have a tour of the centre to see if the facility is right for you and your child.The scheduled tours are offered on the second Tuesday of every month between the hours of 9:00-11:00 or 3:00-4:00.
Are there regular inspections? The centre is inspected by Alberta Children's Services up to three times per year. Inspection reports are located at the front of the centre for anyone to review. The inspection reports for the Out-of-School Care is located on the parent board in the classroom.
What happens if my child is sick?  Lansdowne Child Care & Family Centre follows Alberta Licensing Regulations to ensure that all children attending the program are healthy in their environment.  Children may not attend the centre if they are ill or unable to participate in the program. If a child becomes ill while attending the centre, parents will be contacted to come and pick up their child.
 Is the centre accredited and when is your accreditation? The centre is accredited by Alberta Child Care Accreditation and is renewed every three years.
What is your guidance policy?  Our guidance policy is to ensure that each child is treated with respect and dignity with consistent and appropriate role-modeling and direction. Each child is encouraged to take responsibility for his or her action at the appropriate level of understanding. At all time positive appropriate strategies will be used to re-direct the child and assist to resolve the problem.
When is your centre closed? The Centre operates 12 months a year Monday to Friday 7:00 am. to 6:00 pm. We are closed during statutory holidays. The centre will also close for one week during the Christmas break and one day during Spring Break for a staff professional development day.
Is there planned nap times for children attending the child care program? Yes,there is a scheduled rest period between the hours of 12:30-2:30. Children who are awake at 1:30 go to a stay-up program.
